The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will get a look at recent improvements at AdventHealth Stadium Friday morning.
The called meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the stadium, located at 755 Braves Boulevard.
Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord spoke on some of the improvements during the Rome-Floyd Chamber of Commerce State of the City and County on Wednesday.
“This project got expanded due to some league standards that were a requirement we had contractually,” he said. “We’ve got new hitting tunnels, we have brand new artificial turf—the same turfs as the major leaguers play on, we’ve got new padding and a new batter’s eye in center field. So, we’ve had a lot of construction going on. Keep in mind that they were playing through September. We had a short window to work with and we only had six months to do it because they are in the facility six months out of the year as well.”
Many of the improvements are being funded with money from the 2017 special purpose, local option sales tax.
Friday’s meeting is open to the public.
