The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting early Thursday morning that left one man dead.
According to Calhoun Police Chief Tony Pyle:
An officer was driving past Battlefield Supply on Highway 41 North when he noticed the front glass of the building had been busted out.
The officer called for backup and entered the building, where he located a man holding a firearm.
Backup officers arrived and tried to talk the man into surrendering.
However, the man pointed a rifle at the officers, who returned fire.
The suspect has since died from his wounds.
