Woman facing child cruelty, deprivation charges
A Rome woman is facing four counts of 1st-degree of 1st-degree cruelty to children and four counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year old Tina Marie Bovee allowed four children to reside in the home on Denson Lane in deplorable conditions that put the health and well-being of the children in jeopardy.
The report states the children slept on the floors and in beds with no sheets.
The children were not able to brush their teeth, use the toilet or properly shower, according to the report.
Woman charged with vehicle theft
A 21-year-old Rome woman is accused of stealing an SUV.
According to the arrest warrant:
Alyssa Symone’ Ann Chambers took a 2011 Kia Sorrento from a location on Broad Street on Mar. 15.
The value of the vehicle was listed at $1,500.
Chamber is charged with felony theft by taking a motor vehicle.
Report: Man gave brother’s name during traffic stop
A Rome man is accused of giving police someone else’s name during a traffic stop for a blown headlight on Freeman Ferry Road back on Feb. 7.
According to the arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
45-year-old James John Duncan Jr. gave his brother’s name to police, who wrote a copy charge for driving on a suspended license, and Duncan signed his brother’s name.
The officer then allowed the driver to come pick up the truck since the tag and insurance were valid.
Then on Mar. 8, Duncan’s actual identity was determined.
He is charged with giving a false name or date of birth and false statements and writings.
Man accused of having marijuana at jail
A man initially arrested for simple battery is facing a felony charge of possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
56-year-old Alvin Sylvester Chambers Jr. intentionally made physical contact with the female victim and was then found with marijuana once at the jail.
