Saturday morning wreck claims the life of a 30-year-old woman

A 30-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning on Highway 27 North.

The Rome News-Tribune reports:

The wreck occurred near Walenda Drive just north of Armuchee High School.

Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor said Jennifer Whitley of Armuchee died after her car ran off the road and flipped several times, coming to a rest in the nearby woods.

Proctor said he believes the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and Whitley was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:15 a.m. 

The Floyd County Police Department is investigating the crash.
