Man charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and discharging a firearm on the property of another

A Rome man was arrested Thursday after allegedly trying to hit a man with a vehicle.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

44-year-old Jason Eric Evans is charged with felony aggravated assault for the incident that occurred on Johns Drive.

Evans is also charged with reckless conduct and discharging a firearm on the property of another for an incident on Shorter Avenue in which he tried backing out while a woman was standing behind the vehicle.

He then fired a single round from a revolver into the air and drove away.  

Evans is also charged with DUI and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Summerville man charged with aggravated child molestation

A Summerville man was arrested Thursday after allegedly traveling to meet someone he thought was a minor for sex.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

48-year-old Joseph Edward Watkins made online contact with a person believed to be under the age of 16, engaged in a graphic conversion, sent a lewd picture of himself, and asked for nude pictures.

When he was arrested after driving to Floyd County to meet the person, Watkins was found with less than an ounce of marijuana.

Watkins is charged with aggravated child molestation (criminal attempt), electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor, use of a computer to entice a child, obscene internet contact with a child, sexual exploitation of children, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Report: Woman found driving a stolen vehicle

A Powder Springs woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Brenda Shantelle Luke was caught driving a stolen vehicle on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Rome.

She is also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
