Man arrested for aggravated assault

A 29-year-old Decatur man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on charges of aggravated assault, battery, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

According to jail records:

Jerquias Sheray Mathis put his hands around a woman’s neck and attempted to strangle her at a location on Reservoir Street.

He also struck the victim in the leg.

The woman had visible marks on her neck and legs from being strangled and hit.

The altercation occurred in front of juveniles who were in the home.

More charges for man arrested on Sunday

An Armuchee man who was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated assault and 3rd-degree cruelty to children after allegedly strangling a woman in front of four juveniles on Turkey Mountain Road is now facing additional charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old James Edward Ward III took the victim’s cell phone when she attempted to call 911.

He then stepped on it in an attempt to damage it.

Ward is now additionally charged with a felony count of criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor count of obstructing someone from making a 911 call.

Two charged with theft, criminal trespass

Two Summerville residents have been arrested on warrants in Floyd County charging them with theft by taking and criminal trespass.

According to the warrants:

26-year-old Katlin Trinaty Rosson and 28-year-old David Larenzo Wade took a 1995 Toyota Camry, valued at $700, from a location on Old Bells Ferry Road back on August 3.

Wade is also accused of taking an electric motor, valued t $100, from a location on Perry Road in Armuchee on July 14.

Man accused of failing to register as a sex offender

A 36-year-old Adairsville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on a felony warrant charging him with violating Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law.

According to the warrant:

Colt Ryan Jackson failed to notify the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office within 72 hours prior to his move from Autry Drive to Woody Road and did not register as a sex offender in accordance with Georgia law.

Jackson is also charged with a probation violation.
