Certification of the November 7 General Election was postponed Monday and has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the elections supervisor was unable to attend Monday’s called meeting.
According to Jerry Lee, Chair of the Floyd County Board of Elections and Registration, the post-election audit is nearly complete. He added that there were originally around 200 provisional ballots, but many of those have been cleared up.
A voter can cast a provisional ballot when their eligibility to vote cannot be determined at the polling place. The vote counts if the voter’s eligibility can be determined within three days after Election Day by the county registrar’s office.
Lee said that he did not know what the exact final number of provisional ballots is.
According to the unofficial results, for Rome City Commission in Ward One, Harry Brock received 2,660 votes, Jim Bojo received 2,455 votes and Mark Cochran got 2,012 votes. The top three vote-getters are elected. Sundai Stevenson got 1,820 votes and Charles Love received 1,450 votes.
Meanwhile, in Ward Three, Wayne Robinson received the most votes with 2,708, followed by Craig McDaniel with 2,704 and Bill Collins with 1.969. Bonny Askew was just 11 votes behind Collins for the third and final seat with 1,958.
A countywide special purpose, local option sales tax referendum was approved by a vote of 4,667 to 3,596.
Again, these results are unofficial until the vote is certified during a called meeting at 4 p.m. at the Floyd County Elections Office, located at 18 East 12th Street.
