Rome and Floyd County’s four-day celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. concludes today in Downtown Rome.

The Freedom March will make it way up Broad Street at 11:30 a.m.  Participants are asked to meet at 11:00 am at First St. and Broad.

The march will be followed by the Noon Program at the Rome City Auditorium. The Keynote Speaker will be Rodney Bullard, former college football standout, author, veteran, lawyer, CEO of The Same House, and former director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation.  The program also features the MLK JR. Celebration Choir.

“We’re the first community to have four consecutive celebration days in the entire state,” said Alvin Jackson with the local king Commission. “I think that is something that Rome and Floyd County should be proud of. It’s a great time in history that we have to celebrate a gentleman like Dr. King. In my opinion, he was way ahead of his time. He not only impressed people in the United State, but throughout the world, and his message of non-violence continues to ring today.”

Lunch will be provided immediately following the program at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill.
