Report: Woman pulled knife on her brother

A Rome woman was arrested Sunday at her Lombardy Way residence on charges of aggravated assault, and simple battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

30-year-old Cassidy J. Burley pushed and punched her brother during a fight.

She then got a knife and pointed it at him.

Homeless man accused of fighting with officers

A homeless man is facing felony obstruction charges following his arrest over the weekend.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

33-year-old Mitchell Lloyd Troyer was causing a disturbance at a convenience store on Garden Lakes Boulevard and then fought with officers, while in possession of a pocket knife.

He continued to fight with officers once at the jail.

As a result of that altercation, an officer sustained a knee injury.

Troyer is additionally charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and fugitive from justice.

Troyer has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Indiana.

Woman charged with meth possession, hit and run

A Rome woman is facing charges following a car crash late last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

43-year-old Jessica Jones Akins failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle.

She also left the roadway several times, striking several objects including mailboxes and power poles.

According to an arrest warrant:

Akins was spotted by EMS personnel transferring a plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine from her bra to her pants pocket while being transported to the hospital.

The meth fell out of her pocket as she put on a hospital gown.

Akins is charged with possession of meth, driving under the influence of drugs, hit and run, running a stop sign, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, and driving too fast for conditions.

Man arrested following pursuit in the Shannon area

A 20-year-old Covington man was arrested at Barron Road and Ward Mountain Road over the weekend on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Amir Nicholas Whitter failed to stop for police who were attempting to pull him over for speeding on Georgia Loop One and Calhoun Road,

Whitter’s vehicle at one point reached speeds 98 miles per hour.

He is also charged with speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and a window tint violation.

Man charged with fleeing or attempting to elude

A Plainville man is accused of fleeing from Floyd County Police.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old David Ray Smith Jr. was driving at over 90 miles per hour on Highway 53 on wet roads.

Smith’s vehicle completely left the roadway while he was fleeing.

He was eventually arrested on West Hermitage Road and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, speeding, and a probation violation.

Two arrested following traffic stop

Georgia State Troopers arrested a 28-year-old Atlanta man and a 28-year-old Snellville man during a traffic stop on Highway 411 at Hine Road Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Dy-Quan Dennard Gullatt and Derrick Devon Thomas were found with suspected cocaine and MDNA pills.

Both men are charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Gullatt was also charged with DUI, open container, failure to maintain a lane, giving a false name or birth date to law enforcement, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

He had an open container of Jose Cuervo in the vehicle and was found with a small bag of marijuana while at the jail.

Man charged with exploitation of the elderly

A Silver Creek man is accused of stealing from an elderly person.

According to an arrest warrant:

36-year-old Bradley Derek Sisson took a 69-year-old woman’s debit card and then transferred $110 from it to his own personal Cash App account.

Sission is charged with exploitation or intimidation of the elderly, financial transaction card fraud, and theft by taking.
