Floyd County Commission meets Tuesday

July 8, 2019–9:00 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

The Floyd County Commission will hear from planning commission staff regarding regulations for hobby farms and wedding venues during their pre-meeting caucus Tuesday.

According to planning director Artegus Newell, there have been inquiries from people wanting to keep livestock animals on property that is zoned residential.

Staff is looking at measures that could offer some flexibility where people could have animals without having a full-fledged farm operation.

They are also looking at parameters for wedding venues that would offer some consistency.

There are no specifics yet, but Newell said they are working on something that could be presented to the planning commission in the not too distant future.

Tuesday’s caucus begins at 4 p.m. with the regular meeting to follow at 6.

During the regular meeting, the board is expected to approve the 2019 millage rate, and the upfitting of three county police vehicles, to be paid for with 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds.
