Teen charged in December shooting incident

A Rome teen is facing felony charges after he allegedly shot another person in the foot.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

18-year-old Richard Laverne Jones was arrested Wednesday in connection to the shooting that occurred back on December 15 at his Blacks Bluff Road residence.

He is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and failure to appear in court.

Man accused of failing to do work he was paid for

A Rome man was arrested at his Tency Lane home Wednesday on a felony warrant charging him with conversion of payments for real property improvements.

According to the warrant:

59-year-old Robert Carter III received $1,823 from the victim between December 15 and January 8 for home improvements such as floors, counter tops, cabinets, and a fence, but he never did the work.
