Wednesday afternoon Floyd 911 dispatch was alerted to a vehicle vs. train accident that occurred at the railroad tracks just past Barker Road on Alabama Highway.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders confirmed that a vehicle with three occupants had been hit by a train.

Atrium Health Floyd EMS at the scene reported that the occupants received minor injuries.

Norfolk Southern Railroad was contacted to close the track to other trains near the area.

Alabama Highway was closed down completely so that the vehicle and railroad crossarm could be removed from the tracks.

Police were reported to be investigating the accident.
