An Atlanta man was arrested after he allegedly tried to grab a man’s gun in the parking lot of the Rome-Floyd County Library on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records and a Rome Police Department report:
A man and a woman were sitting in a vehicle facing the trail with the windows down, smoking a cigarette, when 44-year-old Larry Don Pruitt Jr. approached and asked for money.
Pruitt then noticed the .22 on the man’s hip and demanded the gun.
The man drew the firearm and pointed it at Pruitt, who then grabbed hold of the weapon.
The man pulled the trigger but the gun misfired.
Pruitt let go of the gun and ran toward the back of the vehicle.
The man held Pruitt at gunpoint until police arrived.
Pruitt is charged with strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault.
