An Excessive Heat Advisory is in effect through the holiday weekend, with heat indices expected between 102-108 degrees, posing a risk for the elderly, young children, and animals.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued the Heat Advisory from 1 PM to 7 PM (on July 4th) for northwest Georgia.

The heat is expected to linger through the weekend.

Scattered thunderstorms could impact celebrations on Independence Day and through the weekend.
