The Rome City School Board took time recently to recognize West End Elementary School for being named a 2024 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence “Lighthouse School.” Fewer than 60 schools across the country received the award, according to Jim Alred with the Rome City School System.
West End met the criteria in nine performance areas of high-performing schools required for this recognition,” he said. ” West End was evaluated to excel in school organization and culture, challenging standards and curriculum, active teaching and learning, technology integration, professional community, leadership and educational vitality, school, family, and community partnerships and indicators of success.
Along with the review process in these areas, stakeholder surveys, interviews, and a two-day onsite review were completed for the evaluation.
“We are so proud to be named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Lighthouse School. It is a tribute to our amazing faculty and staff who work hard every day to ensure all students are growing toward their goals and dreams,” West End Principal Dr. Dennis Drummond says. “We are also thankful for our outstanding students, families, and stakeholders who support our focus on exemplary academic achievement and partner with us to ensure all students leave West End with a strong, well-rounded foundation to build toward graduating from Rome High School prepared for college or work.”
