Two arrested on drug charges

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers arrest two people at a home on Malone Drive on drug charges Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Zachary Andrew Woods and 32-year-old Ronni Cecelia Steele were found with a quantity of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials, and glass pipes.

Both are charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged with meth possession

A West Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine.

According to the warrant:

31-year-old Demonte Devone Jones was found in possession of methamphetamine after a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Judson Drive as part of an investigation on July 8.

Report: Man fled on foot from police, found with drugs

A homeless man was arrested at a location on Flowery Branch Road in Kingston Wednesday after he allegedly ran from police.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

37-year-old Michael Brandon Stewart failed to obey commands to stop while an officer was trying to detain him.

He was also found with two baggies of methamphetamine and one baggie of marijuana.

Stewart is charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, obstruction of officers, and a parole violation.

Woman accused of stealing $11,000 in jewelry

A Silver Creek woman is accused of stealing $11,000 in jewelry from a woman’s purse back in June.

According to an arrest warrant:

38-year-old Ashley Nichole Scherer sold the jewelry at a local pawn shop and used the money for hotel stays and food.

Scherer is charged with felony theft by taking and a probation violation.

Man charged with theft by taking a firearm

A Silver Creek man arrested over the weekend during a traffic stop after he was found with Vyvanse, alprazolam, and a handgun is facing an additional charge of theft by taking.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Nicholas Andrew Jones stole a firearm from a residence on Blacks Bluff Road on July 14.
