If you have driven on Veterans Memorial Highway, you may have noticed the new Rome Middle School is starting to take shape.
Construction is continuing on the $108 million facility that will serve approximately 1,900 students from grades 6-8.
The Rome City Commission has approved $98,250,000 in bonds for the project that will be paid back using education special purpose, local option sales tax funds.
The other $17 million will be paid for by capital outlay funds from the state.
Officials broke ground on the site in December and construction is expected to be completed in 2026.
