Two people were killed and a one-year-old was seriously injured after a head-on collision on Turner McCall Boulevard in front of Applebee’s restaurant early Saturday morning.
According to Rome Police Department reports, a Black Dodge Charger which was seen speeding in excess of 90 miles-per-hour was spotted by police coming off of Lavender Drive.
Rome police decided not to pursue due to the excessive speed.
However, minutes later the charger was seen on Riverside Parkway driving in excess of 100 miles per hour and struck a vehicle with three passengers head-on on Turner McCall Boulevard..
Two people in the vehicle, driver Kadrian Harris and passenger Malik Henderson, were killed and a one-year-old infant, Riley Harris, was seriously injured.
The driver of the charger, which caught fire during the collision, was identified as Omar Garcia, and was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries. His condition is unknown.
Family of the deceased arrived on scene soon after the wreck and were notified of the fatalities.
The child is in critical condition with multiple severe injuries as of early Saturday morning.
