The presidential election is just 52 days away and, according to polling, Georgia is considered a toss-up state.

On Thursday, the Harris-Walz campaign and the Democratic Party of Georgia officially opened a new coordinated campaign office in Floyd County.
The office is located at 1429 North Broad Street.

Speakers during the opening ceremony included Floyd County Democratic Party Chair Vincent Mendes.

“We are seeing a surge in momentum from volunteers ready to elect the VP as 40,000 people have signed up to volunteer in Georgia alone,” Mendes said.

Rome City Commissioner Elaina Beeman, Congressional candidate Shawn Harris, and State House candidate Kevin Aronhalt also spoke during the event.

Donald Trump won Georgia in 2016, but in 2020 Joe Biden became the first Democrat to win the state in 28 years by a margin of just 12,670 votes.
