Woman charged with kidnapping
A 38-year-old Shannon woman is accused of kidnapping another woman.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Deidra Diana Reed threatened to kill the victim and also prevented the woman from leaving the Burlington Road residence.
Reed physically moved the victim, pinning her against the front door.
The victim was also struck several times in the face, leaving visible marks.
Part of the fight took place in the front yard and was witnessed by bystanders.
Reed is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and acts, disorderly conduct, and battery.
Two charged with child cruelty
Two Rome residents were recently arrested at their Park Road home on felony warrants charging them with cruelty to children.
According to the warrants:
42-year-old Katherine Nichole Griffin slapped and punched a child in the face and mouth, causing the child’s lip to bleed.
41-year-old James Harlan Griffin Jr. hit the child on the knee with a broomstick and then dragged the child across the floor.
The incidents occurred at a location on Cave Spring Road back in August.
Two arrested on child cruelty warrants
An Armuchee man is accused of excessively striking a child with his hand and a shoe.
According to an arrest warrant:
48-year-old Joshua Glenn Ashworth hit the child on multiple occasions, leaving bruises on the victim, back in July at a residence on Old Dalton Road.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Kayleigh Nicole House is accused of allowing Ashworth to hit the child.
Both are charged with 1st-degree cruelty to children.
Man accused of breaking into church
A Rome man originally arrested for allegedly throwing a rock at the front door of the Frisky Biscuit on Calhoun Highway has now been additionally charged in the burglary of a Shannon Church.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
27-year-old Nathan Kendall Whorton broke into the Baptist Church on Fourth Street through two windows causing them to have to be boarded up.
Whorton entered the building more than once, according to the report.
He is charged with 1st-degree burglary and vandalism to a place of worship.
Woman accused of using elderly man’s financial transaction card without permission
A West Rome woman has been arrested on multiple counts of financial transaction card fraud.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
27-year-old Allie Nicole Mull used a 75-year-old man’s card to make eight purchases in Floyd County and two purchases online back in September.
The ten transactions totaled more than $600.
Mull is also charged with identity fraud and exploitation of the elderly.
Report: Man found with fentanyl
A 32-year-old Armuchee man is facing a felony count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Officers found A bluish-grey powder, suspected to be fentanyl, during a search as they were arresting Toby Lance Eden on Highway 411 for failure to appear in court.
Eden was also found with several small pieces of tin foil with black residue.
Metro task force arrests two in Sherwood Forest
Two people were arrested on drug charges after Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers executed a search warrant at a Friar Tuck Road residence on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year old Richard William Poole was found with suspected methamphetamine.
He is charged with possession of meth.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Courtney Leigh Nails is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance after she was found with THC wax.
Report: Man found with marijuana at jail
A passenger in a vehicle stopped for a window tint violation on Chateau Drive at Saddle Trail Thursday was arrested on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
22-year-old Amaury Shakur Redwine gave a false name in an attempt to avoid being arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Once at the jail, two baggies were found in his groin area.
Redwine is charged with possession of drugs by an inmate, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, giving a false name or date of birth, failure to appear in court, and a probation violation.
Inmate accused of causing damage at jail
An inmate at the Floyd County Jail has been charged with interference with government property following an incident on Thursday.
According to jail records:
43-year-old Michael Leonard Hicks tore both insulation screens from the wall and used them to bust glass windows inside the block.
Hicks has been in jail since March of last year after he was arrested for allegedly performing a PIT maneuver on another vehicle during a road rage incident and then falsely identifying himself as an FBI agent.
