Floyd County Public Works is closing Blacks Bluff Road at Brushy Branch on Monday morning.

The portion of the road is being closed for repairs to a wall on the bridge.

Floyd County Public Works Director Michael Skeen talked about the repairs during a Transportation Policy Committee meeting last month.

“One of our wing walls on that culvert has failed,” he said. “We met with some engineers and contractors and determined that the best way to fix that would be to install some sheet piles along that edge of the roads to stabilize it.”

The contractor will require a crane to sit in place, blocking both lanes.

The closure is expected to be complete in a week.

Traffic will be detoured onto Melson Road.
