Man charged with trafficking methamphetamine

A West Rome has been arrested on a drug trafficking charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A vehicle driven by 42-year old Kenneth Zachary Whaley was stopped Faye Street at Shorter Avenue for failing to maintain a lane.

A probable cause search of the vehicle turned up approximately 63 grams of methamphetamine, along with Klonapin, alprazolam, and hydrocodone pills.

The execution of a search warrant at Whaley’s residence on Wigfield Street uncovered additional meth, adderall, digital scales, syringes, and firearms.

Whaley also resisted arrest by pulling away from officers.

He is additionally charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of drug-related objects, obstruction, and failure to maintain a lane.

Two charged with meth possession

Two West Rome residents were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on North Second Avenue at Jewell Frost Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The vehicle was stopped due to the driver, 36-year old Joseph Richard Dye Jr., having an active warrant.

The vehicle was searched following a K9 indication and methamphetamine, hypodermic needles, and a spoon were recovered.

Dye and 34-year old Kayla Dawn Cantrell are charged with possession of meth, and possession with the intent to distribute.

Dye is also charged with possession of drug-related objects, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and a probation violation.

Bicyclist arrested on meth possession charge

A man stopped by police near his Friar Tuck Road home for riding a bicycle at night without the proper safety equipment is also facing drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

52-year-old Stephen Heath Massengale was found with suspected methamphetamine.

He is charged with possession of meth.

Report: Teen had vape at jail

A Rome teen arrested on a probation violation is facing an additional charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

17-year-old Kado Anthony Carlini was found in possession of what appeared to be a vape and a battery pack during the initial pat-down process at the jail.

He is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates.

Man charged with theft by receiving

A Covington, Georgia man is facing a felony theft by receiving charge in Floyd County.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

40-year old Shawn Michael Gay was in possession of collectible currency stolen from a convenience store in Henry County while at a location on Martha Berry Highway back on August 18, 2020.
