STAFF REPORTS

The Floyd County Commission will consider a couple of rezoning requests and a special use permit when they meet Tuesday.

Those include the rezoning of property at Fosters Mill Road and Melson Road in Cave Spring from Suburban Residential to Heavy Commercial; and an application to rezone 4756 Calhoun Road from Community Commercial to Light Industrial.

Both were forwarded from the planning commission with recommendations to deny.

An application for a special use permit for a duplex on Pleasant Valley Road in Silver Creek also comes to the full commission with a recommendation to deny.

The commission is also expected to approve the transfer of revenue from parking fines for the month of September to the Floyd County Schools Child in Need Fund which allows the school system to help families in need in a variety of ways.

That includes school supplies, eye exams, and glasses, dental visits, cap and gowns for graduation, as well as other items and services.

During the pre-meeting caucus, commissioners will hear from Karen Cook with the Department of Behavioral Health & Disability and get an update on the Census from Mandy Maloney.
