Cartersville rolls out golf cart ordinance

The city of Cartersville is rolling out an ordinance concerning golf cart use.

Officials are citing public safety as the reason for the ordinance since motorized carts, personal transportation vehicle. Electric personal assistive mobility devices and other similar vehicles are not designed for use on public highways or streets.

Under the ordinance, a fee of $15 will be assessed to register every motorized cart for use on public roads and they may only be driven on designed roads, rights-of-way or other city property.

Operating such a vehicle on any sidewalk would be prohibited.
