Man accused of fleeing from state trooper

A Cedartown man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from a Georgia State Trooper on Highway 411 Monday evening.

According to Floyd County Jail records, the trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle driven by 31-year old Matthew Lee Pierce for speeding bear Nichols Road.

Pierce fled from the traffic stop.

The trooper channeled the motorcycle, which then struck the rear of the patrol vehicle.

Pierce was charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, reckless driving, Suspended license, and a felony count of possession of a controlled substance after he was found with eight suspected Lorcet tablets.
