Staff Reports –

According to a crime report by the Cartersville Police Department, a traffic stop was conducted on a silver Hyundai Santa Fe with no tag light in Staples parking lot at Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

When the officer exited the patrol vehicle to make contact, the passenger/suspect later identified as 24-year-old Evan Reed Daves of Cartersville, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods behind Knights Inn, towards Church Street.

A description of Mr. Daves was given to Bartow Dispatch, and the officer chased Mr. Daves on foot into the woods but lost sight of him a short time later.

While searching for Mr. Daves, the driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe left the scene and was unable to be located.

Bartow Dispatch advised that the manager of the Tokyo Japanese Steak House observed a male enter the business and proceed into the women’s restroom.

Cartersville Police arrived on the scene and made contact with the manager, who advised a male matching the description entered the women’s restroom and had not exited.

Upon entering the restroom, Police saw no one was inside the stalls but the ceiling tiles were knocked down on the floor, and a person could be heard climbing in the ceiling of the business.

A short time later Mr. Daves was located in the ceiling and was advised to come down. Mr. Daves exited the ceiling and was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Daves was transported to Bartow County Jail. Warrants were obtained for Mr. Daves for Wilful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers (Misdemeanor) and Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree (Business).
