Rome City Schools opens College and Career Academy for tours

Rome City Schools –

Rome City Schools’ leadership will host community members at the new RCS College and Career Academy on July 18 from 1-3 p.m., and again on July 24 from 9-11 a.m. Superintendent Louis Byars stressed that not only are these tours meant to let RCS students see what lies ahead for them but an invitation for the entire community to be a part of the system’s mission.

“We want our community to know that we are all one group,” Byars said. “We want them to experience why we are all proud to be part of the Pack. Part of that effort is allowing them all to see how their SPLOST dollars were spent and see the great things we are offering. Because of this new facility, we can provide programs that will help our students to graduate prepared, whether they have goals of enrolling in college or going directly into the workforce.”

With the opportunity for a wide range of options at the forefront, Byars said that many of the learning pathways were developed with student choice in mind.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out and see the new building. Many of us hear about College and Career Academies, but to see it gives us a new appreciation for the future of learning. I want them to know what learning and teaching will look like in our classrooms. By understanding what we are providing students in our system, and even exploring opportunities to support our efforts of helping our children grow into productive members of our community, they will see the value of having these programs right here at home. We are working to prepare our students for what is beyond high school.”
