Wreck in Gatlinburg claims the lives of two Rome residents

Two Rome residents were killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Gatlinburg.

According to WBIR-TV in Knoxville, the preliminary crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol stated that 22-year old Matthew Hines and 20-year old Ava Freeman died after the pickup truck they were in left the roadway in a curve, struck an embankment, and flipped onto the driver’s side.

The wreck occurred at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Wiley Oakley Drive.
